Long service awards
Long service recognition continues to be an important part of the Human Resources policies of Morgan Crucible. Employees receive a framed certificate signed by the Chairman, a gold lapel badge and an appropriate gift. Here are some of our most recent long service awards:
60 years of service
Mr William (Bill) Byrd, Export Transportation Specialist, Augusta, USA
On 15 January 2007 William (Bill) Byrd entered the record books as Morgan Crucible’s longest serving employee. He celebrated his 60 years of service with a presentation from our CEO Mark Robertshaw and is still working for us.
Bill began his career in 1947 as a Traffic Clerk for what was then Babcock and Wilcox. His first job involved organising the transportation of the company’s brick products via rail as well as unloading deliveries of raw materials. Bill said, “with this company I have had the opportunity to succeed in my career and have raised my family. I love my job and plan to work until I am no longer able to.”
